Frequently Asked Questions…
Where are you?
For security reasons, I am not going to mention exactly where I am, because of the fact that my blog is kept so current and up-to-date. It may seem like overkill, but it is just a little bit safer if people do not know the exact location where a specific incident which i am talking about happened. Honestly, it is not that hard to figure out, and if you ask some of my family they will tell you.
What I will say, is that I am in and around the city of Baghdad, Iraq, and some of the surrounding suburbs.
What is your job?
I am an Air Force Security Forces Member, which is a synthesis of what some other services would consider military police and infantry. I am on a 365 day deployment attatched to a US Army Military Police Brigade, training Iraqi Police to do this job so we don’t have to anymore. Sometimes, this training involves teaching, hands-on training, logistical supply and support, joint missions, or patrolling.
I am a driver of a 63,000 pound Caiman. It is a huge truck, and I love it. I am Alpha driver which, as I am sure you have inferred, means I am the lead truck when we are out and about. It is a lot of responsibility, but it is a lot more fun than following the tail lights in front of you.
What should I send to you or your unit?
First of all, living conditions aren’t terrible here, so please, please do not feel obligated to send me anything.
That being said, I know some of you are persistent, so I love books, and have a wishlist on Amazon.com with plenty of books i would like. Some other things which are nice to have are non-perishable and microwaveable food items, like soups, ramen, or Warm Delights.
Other than that, please check out the Support the Troops page.
How are you in Baghdad, if the news keeps saying that we have pulled out from major cities in Iraq?
Good question, you tell me.
